To say a lot staying within the tight framework of the form is the main principle of haiku. In the perception of Japanese the immanence of existence is its evanescence, life being valueless and senseless without. Evanescence is beautiful and sorrowful at the same time for its nature being changeable and unstable. Haiku is always something different, new, like an echo of a transitory impression. In classic haiku the central place is given to the natural image, expressly or impliedly correlated with human life.
